New details in former child star Blake Garrett’s final hours revealed

New details have been revealed in the tragic death of late child star Blake Garrett following his pᴀssing from a drug overdose this past February.

The actor was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at 33 on February 8 alongside his bed in a sober living home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with drug paraphernalia such as ‘rolled up dollar bills, a lighter and foil with burnt residue’ near his person, according to an autopsy reviewed by TMZ. 

Garrett’s death was a result of acute fentanyl toxicity, according to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner, which ruled his pᴀssing as accidental.

Medical examiners said that Garrett did not test positive for any alcohol at his time of death, according to the outlet.

Results from the autopsy performed on the late actor indicated that his brain exhibited diffuse swelling, the outlet reported.

The Daily Mail has previously reached out to the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further information.

Garrett had also dealt with shingles without complications, according to the outlet, and his body showed lesions at different stages.

The late actor’s mother Carol Garrett previously told the outlet in February that he had visited an Oklahoma emergency room with painful symptoms, leading to the shingles diagnosis.

Carol Garrett said that she felt he might have been using substances to manage the pain from the ailment.

The CDC describes shingles as ‘a painful rash illness’ which impacts ‘an estimated 1 million people’ in the U.S. on an annual basis.

The health organization said that ‘people with shingles most commonly have a rash around the left or right side of the body’ which is described as ‘usually painful, itchy, or tingly.’

According to the CDC, the disease ‘can lead to serious complications,’ with the most recurring one a ‘long-term nerve pain called postherpetic neuralgia, or PHN.’

Garrett was best known for his role as Plug in the 2006 motion picture How to Eat Fried Worms.

His participation in the motion picture earned him and his co-stars a Young Artist Award in the category for Best Young Ensemble in a Feature Film.

Other actors who appeared in the movie included Luke Benward, Hallie Eisenberg, Adam Hicks, Alexander Gould and Clint Howard.

The movie, which had been an adaptation of the 1973 Thomas Rockwell book, had been directed by Bob Dolman.

He had previously appeared in a 2004 video тιтled Barney’s Colorful World, Live!

The Austin, Texas-born actor had been involved in local theater productions as a child, ᴅᴇᴀᴅline reported, having appeared in shows such as Aladdin and His Magical Lamp and Peanuts: A Charlie Brown Tribute.

Other productions he had been in include The Wizard of Oz, Annie and Grease.
