I thought $980m coal heir was my soul mate… then hell ensued

When she first locked eyes with Christopher Drummond at a party on a ritzy Miami yacht in 2020, Alexis Doron was convinced she had found ‘the one.’

Christopher was the heir to the $980 million Drummond Company coal fortune that made his family the richest in Alabama – and he oozed southern charm. 

Alexis said she was quickly swept off her feet by Christopher, with the couple marrying in 2023, moving into a breathtaking $25 million mansion and welcoming a son last year. Her existence became a gilded one of private jets, chic designer clothing and lavish vacations. 

But she said the marriage has now gone badly off the rails, with Christopher arrested and charged with domestic violence last week. He has yet to enter a plea.

In a request for a protective order that was granted, she wrote that in their mansion, ‘he told me he will kill me and he strangled me. He uses signal jammers so I can’t get help. He punched me while pregnant, and held a gun to the back of my head.’ 

Alexis has also filed a civil lawsuit against Christopher, claiming that he tore an expensive necklace off her neck and sprained her wrist during a trip to Monaco’s iconic H๏τel de Paris.

Alexis Drummond has alleged in a civil lawsuit and an order of protection filing that she has been repeatedly ᴀssaulted and abused by the coal mining heir over their six-year relationship. He has not yet pleaded to criminal charges related to the alleged domestic violence 

That saw him spend 45 days in a jail in the Mediterranean principality, with Alexis saying the alleged incident was the final straw for their marriage.  

When contacted by the Daily Mail by phone on Friday, Christopher Drummond said he had ‘no comment’ to make on the allegations that he faces.

Speaking in a slurring voice, he also complained about being ‘scammed by messages’ from unknown telephone numbers.

Alexis has shared details of the abuse she says she suffered at the hands of her husband with the Daily Mail, including videos said to show him attacking her. 

They make for uncomfortable reading, but Alexis insists that she wants to air her allegations with the world. 

Surveillance footage taken from inside the Drummond’s expansive seven-bedroom estate in Mountain Brook, first shared by the Dirty Army Foundation, a non-profit that works to combat domestic violence, and provided to the Daily Mail, appeared to show the alleged domestic abuse. 

In one clip from when Alexis was pregnant, Christopher appeared to warn her to ‘shut the f*** up, or I will do something unforgiveable.’

‘Point your f***ing hand or I’ll snap it off,’ he appeared to have said in another clip. ‘If it weren’t for the kid inside you, I would take you off that f***ing bed.’ 

She also shared images of injuries including a busted lip, bruises on her face and legs, and blood spattered on her clothing, which she alleged was caused by her husband.

Authorities allege that one instance of domestic abuse unfolded last year in the couple’s $25 million mansion in Mountain Brook, Alabama 

Alexis told the Daily Mail that her husband would film her during the alleged abuse as part of a ‘humiliation’ thing, saying he would play the videos back to her and say, ‘Look at yourself, look at yourself,’ she alleged. 

Alexis told the Daily Mail she suffered years of such abuse, and claimed in court documents to have been so terrified of her husband’s connections and his family’s fortune that she delayed coming forward. 

In court filings, Alexis alleged that her husband put a gun to her head, and wrote in her order of protection filing, ‘He tells me he owns judges and no one will help me… he breaks my hands.’ 

She said her husband had round-the-clock private bodyguards, many of whom were off-duty police officers.

‘He also said he owned all the judges and politicians,’ Alexis added, saying he would intimidate her into silence. ‘His family is very, very, very well connected,’ she added.

Christopher Drummond is facing charges of domestic violence and strangulation for several alleged ᴀssaults on his wife. He was arrested last week, and bailed out hours later 

She told the Daily Mail that Christopher is a gun fanatic who owns over 3,000 firearms, and said she had ‘never been to terrified’ as when he allegedly put a handgun to her head during an argument. 

Christopher was booked into Jefferson County Jail at 11:36am on July 20, and he was released hours later at 2.23pm after posting a $66,000 bond. He has not yet entered a plea. 

Alexis said when he bailed out, she was terrified he would go after her with a weapon because he allegedly tried to get to his hunting lodge in Georgia when he was released. Ultimately a judge ordered him to stay in Alabama.

Christopher is an heir to the Drummond Company coal mining fortune. His father ran the firm from 1973 until his death in 2016 and was listed by Forbes as the wealthiest person in Alabama, with a net worth of $980 million in 2015.

The company was founded in 1935 by Christopher’s grandfather, HE Drummond, and it grew into one of the largest energy producers based in the US, largely due to its overseas ᴀssets in Colombia. It produces upwards of 26 million tons of coal per year, and reportedly makes yearly profits of over $5 billion.

Alongside the criminal charges he now faces, Alexis’s attorneys have filed a civil lawsuit against Christopher alleging physical abuse. 

In her documents supporting her protection from abuse order filed in June, which was granted, Alexis alleged that her husband has repeatedly physically abused her throughout their six-year relationship.

She alleged that this has included strangling her, ᴀssaulting her while she was pregnant, and holding a gun to her head, per legal filings viewed by the Daily Mail. 

In Alexis’s civil domestic abuse lawsuit against her husband, she alleged that last month while on a trip to Monaco, Christopher was arrested within 24 hours of their arrival for another alleged attack.  

Christopher is the son of Garry Neil Drummond, who was boss of the family coal mining firm Drummond Company from 1973 until his death in 2016. He was listed by Forbes as the wealthiest person in Alabama, with a net worth of $980 million

Alexis often shared snippets of her life of luxury to her social media, including private jet trips and lavish vacations 

Following reports of her husband’s arrest this week, on Thursday Alexis shared a statement to her Instagram page addressing the allegations she made

According to court records first reported by AL.com and viewed by the Daily Mail, Alexis claimed her husband attacked her at the iconic H๏τel de Paris in Monte Carlo, when he allegedly ‘violently’ tore a necklace from her neck.

Alexis told the Daily Mail this week that the alleged ᴀssault came after she told her husband that she was leaving him, saying she finally had enough and wanted to escape their marriage.

In remarks about her protective order filing, Alexis alleged that the incident came ‘less than 24 hours into the trip.’

‘He comes into our bedroom and said, “I need to ask you a question”, and I could see in his eyes that he wanted to fight.’

‘I was wearing a heart necklace he gave me, and he said he wanted it back. He was creeping up to me in a weird way, and when I tried to get away he twisted my arm and threw me onto the bed,’ she described, as noted in her court filings where she said he ‘breaks my hands.’

She said he then broke her phone, and told her mom who was on the other end of the line that ‘it would be a big f***ing mistake’ for her to call the cops. Her mother did so anyway, and Christopher was promptly arrested, Alexis noted in her court filings.

He was found guilty on charges of intentional violence against a spouse, and on June 5 was sentenced to 45 days in jail, per the reported court filings. 

Following his arrest upon his return to the US, Christopher was released after posting bail, and he is due back in court in September.
