Andy Cohen outraged by Rand Paul’s Fauci takedown

Bravo’s Andy Cohen expressed frustration at Senate Republicans who ‘berated’ Anthony Fauci for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic on Capitol Hill Wednesday.

The Watch What Happens Live! host dismissed such officials as being ‘jealous’ of the doctor’s ability to ‘fix something’ on Wednesday’s show.

Cohen, 58, did not mention his past partnership with Pfizer.

The multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical company was one of several to roll out a government-sponsored jab, back in December 2020. 

Cohen was part of an influencer-led push to get people vaccinated not long after.

The Republican senator leading the push to charge Fauci on the Hill, Rand Paul, preached ‘the science of natural immunity’ during a Fox News interview in November 2020, urging Americans to ‘throw away their masks, go to restaurants, live again, because these people are now immune.’

Cohen attempted to alleviate any of the public’s lingering concerns about getting vaccinated with a series of #PfizerPartner-stamped Instagram posts in 2023. 

‘The holidays are here folks! I’m grateful for so many things this year… That’s why I got an updated COVID-19 sH๏τ to help protect me against COVID-19,’ he said in one such post, which warned about virus variants. ‘Want yours?’

Disclaimers on each warned how the clips were ‘produced in partnership with Pfizer.’ 

The Daily Mail has approached Cohen’s representatives for comment.

The host, on Wednesday, accused Republicans of reigniting a ‘war with science’ by questioning Fauci on the federal government’s pandemic response.   

He slapped Fauci with his ‘Mazel of the Day’ in the process – for ‘being grilled, berated, and sworn at by Senate Republicans over the imaginary crimes they want you to believe he committed during his management of the Covid-19 pandemic,’ he said.

‘Meanwhile, this is the same Dr. Fauci who was a devoted public servant for 54 years and led the federal response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic as the main architect of PEPFAR (the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief),’ Cohen continued.

‘His courageous work is responsible for saving over 26 million lives around the world.’

Cohen then proclaimed: ‘We’re in a war with no end in sight. Prices are skyrocketing. We can’t even eat lettuce, for God’s sake.’

He added that ‘declar[ing] a war on science at a time like this is deeply unserious and dangerous.’

‘Maybe our politicians are just jealous because doctors and scientists do the one thing they can’t ever seem to do: fix something,’ Cohen said, finishing with a sincere, ‘Thank you, Dr. Fauci.’ 

Paul has long alleged Fauci misled Congress and signed off on funding for experiments overseas that may have helped spread the virus.

Fauci has repeatedly insisted otherwise, saying his National Insтιтutes of Health did not fund such research in China.

Fauci, 85, said of Paul during the hearing: ‘The sole reason he is calling me before this committee is to prompt me to say something, anything, that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, “behind bars.”‘    

The emergence of COVID-19 in late 2019 is the subject of two main theories – one being a laboratory-related incident, and the other natural zoonotic transmission, meaning it was transferred from animal to human. 

Personal diary entries penned by Fauci from early 2020 to his retirement in 2022 released ahead of the hearing show uncertainty from Fauci on whether the virus was engineered or leaked from a lab.

More than six years later, there is still no definitive answer about how COVID-19 started. 

Paul will oversee a contempt of Congress vote for Fauci next week after the disease doctor avoided questions by invoking the Fifth Amendment 111 times

Fauci will face a contempt of Congress vote in a Senate committee next week after he invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times on Wednesday.

Crimes that may have occurred during the hearing are not covered under Joe Biden’s blanket pardon for Fauci, including contempt.

Fauci has not been charged or convicted of any crimes.
